WASHINGTON — On Saturday, March 8, there’s more for D.C. United fans to get excited about than the season’s home opener. Before kickoff, Black and Red supporters can get a taste of DC Brau’s limited edition D.C. United-themed beer, The Tradition.
The partnership between D.C. United and D.C. Brau formed last spring, when the two decided to team up for a collaboration unique to the D.C. sports world: a local craft brewery and a local sports club.
Fans were asked to name the brew and long-time supporter Donald Wine’s submission of “tradition” won.
Tradition is a slogan commonly associated with D.C. United and United supporters. It’s stitched in the players’ jerseys, it’s written on the fans’ scarfs and it’s a concept fully embraced by the club.
Before the players take to the pitch on Saturday, Penn Social will pour the 5.0 percent ABV ale from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 6.
Those wanting to include The Tradition in their tailgates can pick up cans and growlers at DC Brau on Saturday, March 8 from noon until 4 p.m.
The beer will also be available at home games at RFK for a limited time this season.
